This DLC features:

  • A new Killer (The Nightmare)
  • A new Survivor (Quentin Smith)
  • A new Realm (Springwood/Badham Preschool I - V)

Description[]

A Nightmare on Elm Street™ is a brand new Chapter for Dead by Daylight.

There are boogeymen, and they do live under your bed. They are inside your room, and inside your mind - your dreams and sometimes dreams come true. Freddy Krueger knows the true meaning of haunting. The true meaning of pushing someone into that dream state where you are uncertain whether you are awake or asleep - alive or on the verge of death. Some more than others will resist sleep, like young Quentin, who is forced to head back where Freddy learned about revenge. Back to Badham Preschool.

Back to school

Who would have thought that dreams could actually do harm? Physical, pain inducing harm? Fear and pain stemming from a scarred soul who seeks revenge for a punishment he deserved. Freddy Krueger will always be remembered - whether you are awake or asleep.

A Nightmare on Elm Street™ is a Chapter for Dead by Daylight. It includes a new Killer, a Survivor and a Map.

Killer's Info[]

Freddy Krueger

How will you stop someone who won’t even let your dreams be? Who will never let you rest and regain some strength so you are able to keep on fighting. Freddy is relentless in his struggle and yearns for retribution. He does not sees the wrongs he did, but rather how he was wronged. He does not hear the cries of pain and suffering children. He just sees his claws closing in on your neck.

Dream World[]

The Dream World is one of any known sub-realms to the Entity's Realm in which Dead by Daylight  takes place.

Overview[]

The Dream World is used exclusively by The Nightmare , other Killers do not have access to it.

The Dream World is on a different plane of existence to the Entity's Realm, marked by thick clouds of fog, a sky streaked with black and white, and everything being drained of colour.

The overall effect is similar to as if the Entity's Realm would be viewed through an old black-and-white television set, but with some tints of colour remaining.

Entering the Dream World[]

The Nightmare's mere presence in a Trial slowly lulls Survivors to sleep, a state called "micro sleep", indicated by a timer on top of their icons. Once the timer reaches 60 seconds, Survivors are fully asleep, indicated by a cloud-overlay on their icon, and enter the Dream World.

The Nightmare can force a Survivor to instantly enter the Dream World with a successful hit; additionally, his Red Paint Brush  Add-on automatically forces all Survivors to begin the Trial in the Dream World.

Dream World Effects[]

The Nightmare is fully visible to Survivors within the Dream World; however, The Heartbeat heard within his Terror Radius is replaced with a hummed lullaby. The lullaby is quieter than the Heartbeat and is omni-directional, making it impossible for Survivors to identify The Nightmare's position relative to them.

Survivors in the Dream World will be affected by The Nightmare's Dream Traps: Dream Snares or Dream Pallets, depending on The Nightmare's Add-ons. They are also afflicted with the Oblivious  Status Effect.

Many of The Nightmare's Add-ons further penalise Survivors in the Dream World, either by hindering them directly or by empowering the Killer.

Leaving the Dream World[]

To escape the Dream World, Survivors must awaken from their sleepwalking state. This can be accomplished in one of five ways:

  • Being woken up by an awake Survivor.
    • By default, this action takes 4 seconds to complete.
  • Being put on a Hook
  • Failing a Generator  or Healing  Skill Check
  • Activating Adrenaline
  • Using the Alarm Clock  found around the Map

Once a Survivor wakes up, they return to the Overworld and their sleep timer is reset.

If they wake up by using an Alarm Clock , they gain 30 seconds of immunity to falling asleep, during which the Micro-Sleep timer is paused (indicated by a yellow timer).

The Sleep immunity also extends to getting hit by The Nightmare's Basic Attack.

Survivor's Info[]

The Sleepwalker

Quentin Smith will never run out of pills to keep him awake, of energy drinks to make him go another mile or another hour. He will never stop, and hopefully he will never sleep. Ever again. Or at least until he’s managed to stop Freddy. Fear poses an option: head into the storm and ride it out, or accept the inevitability of death and just go to bed. Quentin chooses the first one. But how long can he avoid sleep? And how will he manage in this place? Where even death can’t provide any kind of tranquillity.
