Freddy Krueger is a serial killer in Freddy's Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series. Like his original counterpart, he is a serial killer and child murderer and was portrayed by Robert Englund, however, unlike the former, he is not the main antagonist but rather the host of all the episodes in the series.

During his killing spree, he murdered younger than teenage children. He was arrested by Lt. Tim Blocker when Krueger attacked the former's daughters. However, as Blocker didn't read to the latter his Miranda rights, Krueger was released during his pre-trial and thus didn't go to a full trial. This greatly angered the parents of the children who were murdered at Freddy's hands, leading them to pursue and kill him in an act of vigilante justice.

Freddy escapes to an old and abandoned power plant that serves as his lair, he was later confronted by the grownups and was burned to death by Blocker, who regretted on not having killed him in the first place. However, this proved to be a grave mistake, as since he knew that he can continue on to the Dream World after death, which came true, when he returned as a malevolent and powerful spirit, capable of killing people in their dreams.

Biography[]

Pre-death[]

Teenage[]

As a teenager, Freddy went to Springwood High School, from which he graduated in 1970. He was considered quiet and unpopular in school. He didn't really have a lot of friends, only having one, the meek Howard Nehamkin.

Springwood Slasher[]

In his adulthood, Freddy Krueger decided to go on a life of crime for reasons unknown, in which he went on a killing spree, murdering younger than teenage children he targets, with most being from age 4 to 8 years old. He also killed at least one adult (Lou, a police officer). It is straight out stated that he molested at least some of his victims. Moreover, during his killing spree, he used an ice cream van to lure his victims close enough so that he could kidnap and then kill them.

Arrest[]

When Krueger attacked two twin girls in their home, he was caught by the girls' father Lt. Tim Blocker, who initially wanted to kill Freddy to end his menace but has him arrested instead. Freddy was brought to court to be testified. During the trial, he was shackled and kept sequestered in a glass case. He was unexpectedly released when the defense attorney and the judge noted that Blocker didn't read to him his Miranda rights. As pandemonium breaks out in the court room, while Freddy was taken out of the case and unshackled by security, he imagines the courtroom being a scene of carnage, with dead bodies lying everywhere, and eyed Blocker's twin daughters. As he was escorted out of the courtroom, he managed to slip away.

On the run[]

Furious that Freddy was let go and believing that they had been denied justice, a group of vengeful parents along with Prosecutor Deeks, who prosecuted against Krueger, decided to take matters into their own hands and hunt down and kill Krueger. Meanwhile, the latter happily returns to an old and abandoned power plant, which he made as his home. There he retrieves his bladed glove.

Seeking to kill Lt. Blocker's two daughters, Freddy quietly snuck to the Blocker family's house and kills Lou, a guard stationed there to protect Blocker and his family, due to the ongoing situation following Freddy's release. Seeing that Blocker's wife Sara is alone with her twin daughters, Freddy cuts off the power so he could launch a surprise attack, but before he could even have the chance, he was forced to flee when the vengeful parents arrive at the house, as they were unable to find Freddy in the power plant's boiler room.

Death[]

Freddy burns to death

Freddy burns to death.

When the vigilantes returned to the facility to see if he has returned, Freddy intentionally reveals himself. Though Deeks attempted to kill him, he was stopped by Lt. Blocker, who also arrived. Krueger began to mock Blocker, by admitting in a brazen manner that he'll go after his daughters again, saying that the girls never got to know him and that they'll "like him better" when they see him again. When Deeks insists Blocker that they should kill Freddy, the latter mockingly declares that he is forever before being doused with gasoline by Blocker, who regrets on having not killed Krueger earlier when he had the chance. Krueger was then set alight and as he burns to death, he declares that he'll return and that he is free.

Becoming a dream demon[]

Shortly after his death, Freddy Krueger was turned into a dream demon through unknown means, and he became a burnt apparition of himself, with his face and head being completely covered in scars.

Post-death[]

He kills many of his former Springwood High School schoolmates when they are well past teenage. Freddy even went as far as to kill more adults than he was ever depicted as killing in the film series.

Differences[]

  • Though he murdered younger than teenage children during his lifetime as his original counterpart had, however, it is stated that he had killed at least one teenager (a 14-year old boy).
  • He graduated from Springwood High School in 1970, which was set two years after the Freddy Krueger of the film series was burned to death.
  • This Freddy Krueger obviously knew that he would continue on in the Dream World after his physical death, which is evident when he stated that he'll be back.
  • While most of the adults he kills were either involved with his death or were helping the teenage characters work against him in the film series, Krueger killed many adults who apparently had nothing to do with his death in the Freddy's Nightmares series.
  • As stated in the aforementioned episode, he has been systematically killing his former schoolmates from Springwood High School in their dreams. By this time, they were well past their teenage-hood.
