Jesse's Lost Journal is a story written by Mark Patton, who played Jesse Walsh in the film version of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

Background[]

According to Mark Patton, the idea of writing a story from Jesse's perspective started as status reports on Facebook and then things happened on the fly.

According to Mark Patton, the idea of writing a story from Jesse's perspective started as status reports on Facebook and then things happened on the fly.

So he decided to make his writing a complete body of work, with a timeline of its own. Although he uses many of Wes Craven's characters, Mark also creates new ones and it is precisely the new ones that will be involved when Jesse Walsh shows new facets that were not ''seen'' in the film.

Excerpt from the preface of the story:

"This is my final answer to all of you who asked if I liked the ending. Was Jesse Gay? Was Fred Gay? Did you know? Are you Gay? You scream like a girl! Do you feel like you are a part of the real NOES series. Jesse and Mark are homos!

The answers are buried here in this Journal.

Jesse's Lost Journal was conceived as my subtexts writing while making the movie. I stay true to the film until late in the game and then bear off in a new direction, bringing Jesse up to date and letting you see he is quite alive and doing just fine. I hope you enjoy the Journals, I love writing them.

Mark Patton."[1]

Plot[]

It is depicted as "what really happened" and the A Nightmare on Elm Steet film series, which actually exists in the story, is depicted as dramatizations by actors. Some of these actors are actually characters in the story. It is made up of 68 entries.

The first part of it is an alternate version of the story in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, with references to an alternate version of the story in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The second part of it has no parallel in the film. Jesse Walsh moves to New York City and has his name changed. Freddy Krueger possesses the body of Robert Englund.

Timeline[]

While the events depicted in Jesse's Lost Journal are not part of the series timeline or canon, Mark Patton (who played Jesse Walsh in A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge) wrote a string of events that he believes could go down in history as "what really happened." Following the timeline of the film series, the events we see in Freddy's Revenge take place in 1986, while the events described in Jesse's diary are mentioned as occurring in 1982 and 1985.
