Elm Street Wiki

I don't know. Looks like a diary to me.

Nancy's Diary is a journal where Nancy Thompson documented her life, it was first seen in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

It is not known exactly when Nancy began writing in her diary, however, it seems that it began with her first nightmares and the events that were happening regarding Freddy Krueger.

In 1986 the Walsh family moved to Springwood. Ken Walsh manages to buy the house at a good price due to the events that happened in 1981 with Nancy and her family. When Jesse was with Lisa cleaning and unpacking boxes with his belongings in his room, she finds Nancy's diary in the closet and between them she reads it, it is Jesse who makes a connection with what happened in his nightmares and what Ron told him in the locker room.

Entries for February 17, March 7 and March 14 and only appear in the official script released alongside the DVD in 2000.
